Psalms 7

The Lord Implored to Defend the Psalmist against the Wicked.

A
I.e. Dithyrambic rhythm; or wild passionate song
Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the Lord
Or concerning the words of
concerning Cush, a Benjamite.

1 O Lord my God, cin You I have taken refuge;
Save me from all those who pursue me, and ddeliver me,
2Or he will tear
Or me
my soul flike a lion,
Or Rending it in pieces, while
Dragging me away, while there is none to deliver.

3O Lord my God, if I have done this,
If there is hinjustice in my hands,
4If I have irewarded evil to
Lit him who was at peace with me
my friend,
Or have kplundered
Or my adversary without cause
him who without cause was my adversary,
5Let the enemy pursue
Or me
my soul and overtake
Or me
it;
And let him trample my life down to the ground
And lay my glory in the dust.
Selah may mean: Pause, Crescendo or Musical interlude
Selah.

6 pArise, O Lord, in Your anger;
qLift up Yourself against rthe rage of my adversaries,
And sarouse Yourself
One ancient version reads O my God
for me; You have appointed judgment.
7Let the assembly of the upeoples encompass You,
And over
Lit it
them return on high.
8The Lord wjudges the peoples;
Lit Judge
,
yVindicate me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and my integrity that is in me.
9O let zthe evil of the wicked come to an end, but aaestablish the righteous;
For the righteous God abtries the hearts and
Lit kidneys, figurative for inner man
minds.
10My adshield is
Lit upon
with God,
Who afsaves the upright in heart.
11God is a agrighteous judge,
And a God who has ahindignation every day.

12If
Lit he
a man ajdoes not repent, He will aksharpen His sword;
He has albent His bow and
Lit fixed it
made it ready.
13He has also prepared
Or His deadly weapons
for Himself deadly weapons;
He makes His aoarrows fiery shafts.
14Behold, he travails with wickedness,
And he apconceives mischief and brings forth falsehood.
15He has dug a pit and hollowed it out,
And has aqfallen into the hole which he made.
16His armischief will return upon his own head,
And his asviolence will descend upon
I.e. the crown of his own head
his own pate.

17I will give thanks to the Lord auaccording to His righteousness
And will avsing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.
